Bleed
What is Bleed?
Bleed is the portion of a printed image that extends beyond the trim edge to ensure there are no white margins.
Typically, bleed extends about 0.125 inches (3mm) beyond the final paper size from each side. This extra space is crucial for giving your printed pieces a professional look because it allows for slight discrepancies in the way paper is cut during the finishing process. While I don’t have specific statistics on advertising brands using bleed in their designs, incorporating bleed is a standard practice across various types of print advertising to achieve high-quality results.
